Hiker's dog lost in a wild New Zealand forest rescued by helicopter after strangers fund search

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — When a hiker fell from a 55-meter (180-foot) waterfall in wild New Zealand bush, rescuers were forced to evacuate the badly hurt woman without her dog, which couldn't be found. After strangers raised thousands of dollars for a search, border collie Molly was flown to safety by a helicopter pilot who was determined to reunite pet and owner.

New Zealand Dog Rescue

A week earlier, an emergency rescue helicopter found the woman with bruises and lacerations after a fall at a rocky spot at the waterfall on the South Island's West Coast. She was airlifted on March 24 but they were forced to leave without her pet.

Molly was bedraggled and hungry when she was found Tuesday, just a few meters from the spot where the hiker had been lucky to survive.

"I contacted her in hospital and said I'd go for a look for it," said Matt Newton, the owner-operator of Precision Helicopters New Zealand, which is based at Hokitika Gorge near the Arahura River where Molly went missing. "I went and looked for the dog several times and no avail."

Unwilling to give up, Newton and his family launched a fundraiser to pay for more flying hours and advanced search gear. Offers of help and donations poured in, with strangers pledging more than 11,000 New Zealand dollars ($6,300) for a search.

It was enough to fund three more hours in a helicopter using thermal imaging equipment. On Tuesday, Newton took to the skies with a veterinary nurse, volunteer searchers and a dog named Bingo in a renewed search for Molly.

"We struck jackpot within about an hour," he said. "As we made our way up the river, we could see the dog in the thermal and then we could visually see it."

There had been no sign of Molly at the waterfall when Newton previously searched the spot, he said. It wasn't clear if the dog had also fallen from the waterfall or if she had eventually made her way to the spot where her injured owner landed.

The helicopter dropped low enough for a volunteer to disembark with the rescue dog Bingo to help coax Molly to safety and keep her calm.

Newton thought the dog had survived by eating feral animals during her week in the wilderness.

"She knew what we were up to, I think," he said. "She behaved real well. She didn't run away and she was pleased to be rescued."

The dog was in "surprisingly good condition", the pilot said. He sent word back to the helicopter base, where other volunteers waited to take turns in the search. "Instead we just had a big barbecue and all had a cuddle with Molly."

Hours after the dog's rescue, her owner, still battered from her fall, arrived for a tearful reunion.

"I think that'll speed up her healing process somewhat," Newton said. "Having your dog back, that's for sure."

During a Tuesday, March 31, appearance onWatch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, a fan question enquired as to how theYour Friends & Neighborsactress, 54, was feeling.

"Well thank you Eric, I'm doing great," PeettoldCohen, 57, in response to the question. The fan also quizzed Peet, who revealed her 2025 diagnosis in aNew Yorkeressay published on March 21, on valuable advice she'd received as a result of her diagnosis.

"The best piece of advice, I would say, is 'Enjoy it while we're here,' Peet responded, to which Cohen agreed before adding, "That is something to live by every day."

Sarah Paulson Praises Best Friend Amanda Peet's 'Profoundly Gorgeous' Essay About Cancer Battle

Peet's essay detailed that she was informed ofher diagnosis"last fall" after undergoing what she had presumed would be a "routine scan" that examined her breast health. "For many years, I've been told that I have 'dense' and 'busy' breasts — not as a compliment but as a warning that they require extra monitoring," she wrote before revealing that her physician "didn't like the way something looked on the ultrasound."

After undergoing a biopsy, Peet recalled how her sample was walked over and hand-delivered to a pathology department for review. "That's when I knew," Peet wrote, noting that her doctor shared news of her stage 1 breast cancer results the following day. "The tumor 'appeared' to be small, but I would need an MRI after the holiday weekend to determine 'the extent of disease.'"

The MRI showed a second mass that was ultimately benign, which meant that Peet was not advised to undergo a double mastectomy or chemotherapy. "I would only need a lumpectomy and radiation," she wrote. Once her radiation course had completed, Peet returned a clear scan in January.

Later that month, Peet's mother, who was in hospice care, died.

Tragically, Peet's father died in 2025 amid Peet's cancer ordeal. She reflected on the time in her essay, writing, "As soon as my dad's corpse was out of sight, I was free to panic about my cancer again."

In an interview withE! News, published on Tuesday, March 24, Peet opened up about sharing her diagnosis withher children. (Peet and husbandDavid Benioff, the cocreator ofGame of Thrones, share daughters Frances, 19, and Molly, 15, and son, Henry, 11.)

"They've been great," she told the outlet. "I definitely had to get myself together before including them. The hard part was realizing that nothing is certain and there was going to be no perfect time to tell them."

Man found dead inside police SUV after 3 days. 'We want answers,' family says

Video released by the Azusa Police Department this week shows the moment a man was freed from jail before he stepped into an unoccupied police car where he was found dead days later.

LA Times Eric Valencia seen leaving the Azusa PD station and crawling into an unlocked patrol SUV on March 23. (Azusa PD)

The surveillance video released Monday shows Eric Valencia, 37, after he was released from jail on March 23 around 1 p.m., according toKABC.He walked up to a parked patrol car outside the station. Valencia got into the back of a SUV andshut the door behind him.

Valencia had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment on March 20 and held over the weekend before being released, said Azusa Police Chief Rocky Wenrick at a news conference.

"Mr. Valencia was released from custody with no apparent signs of distress," Wenrick said during the conference, according to KABC."Surveillance video shows Mr. Valencia unlawfully entering the rear seat area of patrol unit 37."

Valencia was initially pulled over for driving without headlights on and police suspected he was under the influence based on signs of watery, bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol in the car, Wenricktold Fox during an interview.

Two children, ages 3 and 11, were in the car with Valencia, Wenrick added. Valencia had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit during his arrest.

Valencia was freed on March 23 and given his property, cellphone and food, according to Wenrick. His body was found inside the unlocked SUV three days later when Wenrick told the fleet maintenance crew to take the patrol cars to get washed.

Valencia's cellphone was found in working order and he never called 911 for help, according to Wenrick.

Officials explained out-of-service vehicles are often parked for days or weeks while awaiting equipment installation. Typically, law enforcement vehicles cannot be unlocked from the back seats.

"We're gonna do our best in the investigation to figure out why Mr. Valencia walked out and got in the vehicle," Wenrick said. "Hopefully we'll be able to provide closure to the family and for our own sake of knowing why that decision was made and why he did what he did."

Valencia's sister-in-law Julia McCormick told NBC4 that his family wants closure.

"Come to find out that he was here in a car the whole time. The whole time," she said. "We want to know what happened. Please, please, we want answers."

Authorities said that the department's out-of-service cars are parked outside while they're waiting for equipment to be installed. Law enforcement vehicles can't normally be unlocked from the back seat.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is conducting an investigation and the cause of death wasn't available.

Valencia's family told KABC that Valencia lived less than a mile away and didn't have any medical conditions.

"They never even called me back. No one at the police department ever called me back to let me know that he was found on Thursday morning. The only phone call I got was from the coroner's investigator to let me know he was already passed," a family member said.

King Charles Will Not Be Able to Meet Epstein Victims During U.S. Visit amid Ongoing Investigations

Ahead of King Charles' visit to the U.S. next month, some lawmakers have called for the monarch to meet with Jeffrey Epstein victims

NEED TO KNOW

  • PEOPLE understands that the King will not be able to meet with survivors during the trip because of concerns that it will prejudice ongoing police investigations in the U.K.

  • King Charles and Queen Camilla have both affirmed their continued support for Epstein survivors in past statements about the former Prince Andrew's ties to Epstein

Despite calls from some lawmakers forKing Charlesto meet with Jeffrey Epstein victims during his upcoming visit to the United States, such a meeting will not be possible.

Due to ongoing U.K. investigations into matters related to Epstein, King Charles and Queen Camilla will not be able to meet with survivors during the state visit in late April, PEOPLE understands.

Sources indicate that the concern is that anything emerging from such a meeting could potentially affect or prejudice the work of British law enforcement or any legal action that may or may not follow.

Over the last year, the King has been navigating the fallout from Epstein's ties to his brother, the formerPrince Andrew, and Andrew's ex-wife,Sarah Ferguson. Andrew, 66, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

Apalace statement released in October 2025, when King Charlesmoved to strip his younger brother of his royal titles and honorsover his connections to Epstein, said that the monarch and Queen Camilla "wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."

Following Andrew's arrest in February, the King and Queenreleased another statement, which contained their first direct reference to Andrew's "conduct" as well as a renewed statement of support for Epstein's victims.

"The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct," the palace said in the statement on Feb. 9.

"While the specific claims in question are for Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to support them as you would expect," the statement continued.

"As was previously stated, Their Majesties' thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse," they concluded.

The King and Queen's state visit to the U.S. was confirmed on March 31. Though exact dates and events have yet to be announced, it is expected that the King will address a joint session of Congress.

Rep. Ro Khanna, one of the most vocal members of Congress calling for justice and transparency regarding the full Epstein files, was the one whopenned an open letterto the King calling for him to meet with the victims.

"As author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, I respectfully ask that you privately meet with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's and Ghislaine Maxwell's abuse, so they may speak to you directly about the ways powerful individuals and institutions failed them. Survivors want this meeting," Khanna wrote in his missive to the King.

"I make this request in light of recent developments in the United Kingdom, including renewed scrutiny of individuals and institutions with ties to Epstein and his network," he continued. "These developments have raised serious questions about conduct, access, and whether positions of public trust were misused or whether public institutions helped shield wrongdoing. Your call for a 'full, fair and proper' investigation, and for the law to take its course, recognizes the seriousness of these concerns."

"As you are aware, this is not solely an American matter. Epstein's network had significant ties to the United Kingdom through Ghislaine Maxwell, through Epstein's relationships with British public figures, and through the social and political circles in which he operated...A meeting with survivors would provide an opportunity to identify any additional information British institutions and individuals may be able to share and open a dialogue about whether there will be a full accounting of how Epstein's and Maxwell's network operated in the United Kingdom. It would also ensure that survivors are heard directly and that these matters are addressed with transparency, seriousness and accountability."

The Price Is Right's complicated history, which includes accusations of discrimination and sexual harassment, is dissected on E!'s Dirty Rotten Scandals: The Price Is Right

NEED TO KNOW

  • In response to the discussion around the documentary, former producer Roger Dobkowitz shared his thoughts in a lengthy Facebook post

  • Barker hosted The Price Is Right from 1972 to 2007 and remained a beloved public figure through his death in 2023

A member ofThe Price Is Rightteam is speaking out inBob Barker's defense.

Roger Dobkowitz, a former producer on the game show, shared a statement on Instagram sharing his thoughts on E!'s docuseries,Dirty Rotten Scandals, which dedicated two episodes to exploring the environment behind the scenes ofThe Price Is Rightduring Barker's time hosting.

Dobkowitz first joined the game show team as a production assistant in 1974, becoming a producer on the show in 1984. He was at the show until mid 2008.

Dobkowitz called the docuseries, which featured different members of the show's team from the late 1970s through the early 2000s, a "hit piece" against Barker.

"Many of my friends have asked me for my comments in regards to the E documentary that was recently shown on their network. However, up until now, I avoided commenting on it because I didn't want to add any social traction to such an obvious 'hit piece.' The 'documentary' should just quietly disappear into the bottom of a TV equivalent of a waste basket along with all the other forgotten so-called 'exposes,' " Dobkowitz wrote in aFacebook post.

Sharing his own thoughts, he continued, "This so-called 'expose' makes me realize that there are some people in this world who will happily exaggerate and create falsehoods in order to justify a personal, hateful vendetta against a person in order to draw attention to themselves. Making the situation worse is the fact that the accused is deceased, and therefore, making it impossible for the accused to defend himself. The adjective 'brave' should never be used in reference to a person attacking a dead person."

Dobkowitz continued, "Most people in society and individuals move on with their lives, especially after courtrooms have settled disputes and they are closed. Most people are happy that a headache in their lives is over. Such closure is usually a life marker to remind the person to grow and put things behind them. When someone feels the compulsion to constantly bring it up for another 30 years is a sign that something could be wrong with their capacity to reason maturely."

The producer discussed the possibility of writing a book, adding, "My 36 years of observations with Bob, the models, and the staff will clear up lots of misconceptions and dismiss many wrongful accusations. The show was a happy place…our working environment was the envy of other shows. Staff rarely quit...the dozens of women who were in our repertoire of models came back year after year, happy to be on our show."

"The only unhappy people, as would be found in any company, were the ones that didn't get the raise they wanted, the ones that didn't get the promotion they thought they deserved, and the ones that were terminated for not doing their job. Of course, we did have a small handful of those people, but far, far, less than other companies had. I was there for 36 years. I was on that stage."

Dobkowitz isn't the only person to come forward in defense of Barker. The late host's longtime representative, Roger Neal, also shared a statement refuting the claims in the documentary.

"Barker was and is beloved, and people to this day love him," Neal toldUSA Today.  "He was part of the fabric of American pop culture. He was the greatest MC in TV history. I was honored to have represented him."

Lamar Odom's past is a 'cesspool of trauma,' he says: 'I don't know what made me relevant now'

After his October 2015 overdose at a Nevada brothel, Lamar Odom says, he had "12 strokes and six heart attacks. All my doctors say, like, I'm a walking miracle."

LA Times BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 18: Lamar Odom attends the 23rd annual Harold & Carole Pump Foundation Gala at The Beverly Hilton on August 18, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by Rodin Eckenroth/Getty Images)

Now, more than a decade later, the Love Ranch brothel has been demolished, but Odom is still around.

The former Laker and onetime husband of Khloé Kardashian is telling his story for "The Death and Life of Lamar Odom," the newest episode of Netflix's documentary series "Untold," along with Kardashian, former coach Phil Jackson and others who were around during his Oct. 13, 2015, health emergency. The episode premiered Tuesday.

"You know what's funny?" the 46-year-old former player toldSports Illustratedin an interview published Monday. "I haven't even watched it yet. You know why? Because I lived it."

Odom, who just got out ofanother month of rehabin February, insists that the 2015 episode was not a mere overdose but a "hit," an attempt on his life.

"Right when I signed the divorce papers, I was like, 'I'm gonna get it in.' The Bunny Ranch I used to always see on TV, but I don't have any coke to take," he says in the documentary. " ... It's crazy when you think about [how] one decision, so big or so minor, could be so pivotal to you and to people that you really love."

The late Dennis Hof, owner of the Bunny Ranch, where HBO's "Cathouse: The Series" was shot, owned other Nevada brothels. Odom set off that October for Hof's Love Ranch in Crystal, about 80 miles outside of Las Vegas.

"It was pretty rare that a celebrity — certainly anybody above the D-list — would be actively trying to come out to one of the brothels," former Love Ranch manager Richard Hunter says in the "Untold" episode. "This was kind of a myth. This was something Dennis perpetuated."

But, Hunter said, "Lamar Odom actually began contacting several of the girls from the Love Ranch on Instagram. ... Being a professional athlete, there's a lot of easier ways to do this than to drive an hour outside of the city into the desert, walk into a brothel, such as it was, and want to live there for a few days.

"As the days progressed, I remember that him or one of his handlers ... actually contacted the brothel and wanted a car to pick him up. So it definitely became real when he gave us the address of where he was at." The driver called the Love Ranch and let them know his passenger really was Odom. They put him in a house behind the brothel, Hunter said, where they put folks who were "spending enough money."

Odom toldUSA Todayin an interview published Monday that what transpired at the Love Ranch — whichwas demolishedin November 2024, afterHof's 2018 death— "was like a hit. Obviously they missed. I don't know if they want to finish the job."

Hit or not, Odom infamously wound up overdosing on alcohol and various drugs includingover-the-counter erectile-dysfunction supplements. He says no cocaine was involved.

Kardashian explains in the episode that her divorce from Odom came as a result of an ultimatum she was told to deliver during a planned intervention: a three-month rehab stint or a split. Odom surprised them, she said, when he said that all he wanted was his passport — and the divorce.

"I was like, looking around like, 'Wait. Wait. I — I don't want the divorce,'" she said. "'You guys [who assembled for the intervention] told me I have to say this.'"

Odom and Kardashian had signed their papers before the OD, but a judge hadn't yet signed off on the dissolution, which allowed her to keep him insured and, as his wife and next of kin, to make decisions regarding his health. Kobe Bryant, Odom's Lakers teammate and Kardashian's close friend, flew to Nevada to help her decide whether to proceed with surgery to fix Odom's lung that had collapsed. She said yes, even though there was only "like a 10% chance" that it would work and that he would survive the procedure.

Odom made it through, recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Bryantdied in a helicopter crashless than five years later.

After the OD, Kardashian never left the hospital. She put their divorce — finalized in 2016 — on hold. When Odom awakened from his coma, he couldn't control his bowels and needed six hours a day of dialysis, according to the documentary. "So you can understand the humility ... I've won two championships. I'm Lamar Odom. I can't walk, can't talk. And they come in to check my diaper."

He was 35 at the time. The next summer, he was removed from a flight at LAX before takeoffwhile drunk and vomiting, having been seen earlier slamming beer and whiskey in the Delta Airlines lounge.

So what would Odom tell his younger self, if he could, after suffering a dozen strokes and six heart attacks after that visit to the Love Ranch?

"Stay away from your weakness. And my weakness, obviously, was drugs because I'm a drug addict," he told SI. "It could have been passed down to me from my father. But I'm not blaming anybody. Makes no sense to blame anybody. On or off the court, you have to work with what you've got. And I had an incredible stat line in terms of skills and how to play the game.

"And just work on being the best player that you can be. Anybody who offers you that s—, drugs, whether it be coke, pot, alcohol, they probably ain't your friend. And to choose my friends wisely, because they could affect you on or off the court."

Odom also wasn't sure why Netflix had tapped him at this moment, but hopes that by telling his story he might help other people who are trying to get out of addiction.

"I was telling my girlfriend on the way here, it's like swimming in a cesspool of trauma," he told USA Today, mentioning a partner who has not been identified. "And I'm trying to get out of it, but the story reels me back into that pool every time. But I just know I'm bigger than the situation, and I hope to help a lot of people by giving my testimony. Not just with the story, but just in life, that we can all overcome addiction."

That and, well, "Netflix had a good paycheck, bro," he told SI with a laugh. "No, but it's a time and place for everything. I don't know what made me relevant now."

Police said in a release onFacebookthat the three people, who were all from out of state, were apprehended within minutes after attempting to flee from the property.

Initially, police were called to the area of 67th Avenue and 113th Street in Pinecrest for a house alarm. Once officers were on their way to the address, they were told that surveillance video showed a "burglary in progress," police said in a separate statement shared with NBC News.

Officers arrived to find a vehicle fleeing the scene, which then crashed at the corner of Southwest 57th Avenue and 94th Street, according to the police statement. The suspects got out of the car and attempted to run to a nearby neighborhood before police took them into custody.

"This incident serves as a stark reminder that Pinecrest will not tolerate criminal activity," police said in the Facebook statement.

No further information was provided about the incident or the arrest. Representatives for Pippen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Pippen has been in the headlines recently after reports surfaced this month that Bravo was pausing production of "Real Housewives of Miami" due to low ratings.

Pippen said on her Instagram story she was "not happy" about the news and slammed Bravo sister series, the "Real Housewives of New York City," calling it "terrible without the old cast members."

'Reacher' Fans Go Wild as Alan Ritchson's 'Idol' Audition Resurfaces After Brawl

Before becoming action star Jack Reacher andgetting into scraps with his neighbor,Alan Ritchsonwas one of manyAmerican Idolauditionees looking for his break into the industry. Now a tape of him is doing the rounds online again after Ritchson recently hit the news for all the wrong reasons.

TV Insider Alan Ritchson

Last week, an X user reshared a clip from Ritchson's somewhat awkward audition onIdol's third season, which TV Insider wrote about inFebruary 2025. In the video, a 20-year-old Ritchson appeared before judgesSimon Cowell,Randy Jackson, andPaula Abdul, wearing a tight-fitting t-shirt that showed off his muscles.

"Can I just say, before you start, thank you for putting a little smile on Paula's face," Cowell joked as a bashful Abdul laughed.

"There was this one guy in Atlanta, his name was Alan Ritchson, and he's totally hot," Abdul said in a confessional.

Cowell and Jackson then left the audition room and let Ritchson serenade Abdul up close and personal with a performance of Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life." While not having the greatest vocals ever, all three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Ritchson made it through to Hollywood Week, where he performed an original song and took part in a group performance with two fellow contestants. He didn't make the judge's final 32.

Fans flooded social media with reactions to the resurfaced clip, with one X user writing, "Alan Ritchson onAmerican Idolcharming Paula Abdul?? That's legendary."

"Alan Ritchson has always been hot before be beefed up," said another.

"Wait alan ritchson on idol? that's wild," another added.

One user wrote, "This is just another proof the aspiring actors are the same ones showing up in every single TV show."

"Don't think ive ever seen Reacher smile, nevermind sing," quipped another.

"Charms Paula Abdul AND becomes an action hero? That's a win-win career arc," one fan added.

"Paula Abdul has taste, she recognized the future action star energy," another user commented.

"From Idol crooner to Reacher crusher, what a glow-up," said another.

While Ritchson didn't succeed onIdol, he went on to build an impressive career in film and television. A year after his 2004Idolaudition, he landed a role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman onSmallvillebefore taking his first main cast role inBlue Mountain Statein 2010. Since 2022, he's starred in the titular role of Prime Video's action-dramaReacher.

Ritchson has been in the news recently after getting into an a brawl with a neighbor in Tennessee. Initially,TMZ released footagethat seemingly showed Ritchson hitting a man and knocking him to the ground after an argument ensued about the actor riding his motorbike through the neighborhood.

The neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, told TMZ that the Titans star punched him in the face and kicked him to the ground while repeatedly hitting his head. Ritchson then reportedly fell off his bike, got back up, and tried to run Taylor off.

However, Ritchson later revealed that he was wearing a bodycam andreleased the footage to TMZ. In Ritchson's video, Taylor jumps in front of the motorbike, causing the actor to fall to the ground. After an argument, Ritchson tries to drive away, but Taylor keeps standing in front of the bike and pushes Ritchson to the floor. Ritchson then hits Taylor, knocking him to the ground and telling him to "stay down."

Taylor Swift sued for trademark infringement over

Taylor Swift is facing a new lawsuit over her latest album,"The Life of a Showgirl,"which accuses the singer of trademark infringement.

CBS News

Filed Monday in federal court by Las Vegas performer Maren Wade, the complaint claims Swift titled her hit record despite being aware of its resemblance to the title of a column that Wade penned for Las Vegas Weekly called"Confessions of a Showgirl,"centered around anecdotes about her experiences in the entertainment industry. The column was first published in 2014, the document said, and Wade later adapted it into a live show and book by the same name.

Wade obtained a registered trademark for "Confessions of a Showgirl" from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2015. The trademark eventually received "incontestable" status, signaling the owner's right to exclusively use it after having done so consistently for a period of years, according to the lawsuit andthe trademark office.

When Swift later applied to register a trademark of her own for "The Life of a Showgirl," the office denied her application, allegedly on the grounds that its title was "confusingly similar" to Wade's already established one, Wade's attorney, Jaymie Parkkinen, told CBS News in a statement.

"They continued using it anyway, expanding it across a coordinated commercial program and distributing it through retail channels reaching millions of consumers" the lawsuit said, referring to Swift's team. It added that Wade "was never contacted" about the name.

The lawsuit claims that Swift's album title undermined Wade's personal brand, after the performer had spent more than a decade building it.

"She registered it. She earned it," said Parkkinen. "We have great respect for Swift's talent and success, but trademark law exists to ensure that creators at all levels can protect what they've built. That's what this case is about."

Wade's complaint said similarities between "Confessions of a Showgirl" and "The Life of a Showgirl" are "immediate," as both titles "share the same structure, the same dominant phrase, and the same overall commercial impression." It also said the brands "are used in overlapping markets and are directed at the same consumers."

In addition to trademark infringement, the suit also accused Swift and UMG Recordings of unfair competition and, specifically, false designation, a law that prohibits goods or services circulated in commerce from misrepresenting their origins to consumers. UMG Recordings is a branch of Universal Music Group, to which Swift is signed. The lawsuit also named Bravado International Group Merchandising Services, Inc., another branch of UMG.

Wade is seeking unspecified damages for "the irreparable harm to her business, reputation, and goodwill" as a result of the alleged trademark violation, as well as a court order that would prevent Swift from continuing to use the title of her hit album.

Swift's commercial success "does not depend on the continued use of any single designation," the lawsuit argued, while "Confessions of a Showgirl" is Wade's only trademark and the basis of her "professional identity and career."

"It is not one mark among hundreds," the complaint said. "It is the only one she has."

Lamar's family didn't attend his wedding to Khloé. In fact, several family members thought the marriage was a joke when the former NBA player notified them that he would be tying the knot — afterdating the reality TV star for 30 days— including his first wife,Liza Morales, and aunt, Janean Mercer.

"I really thought he was joking," Morales said during an interview for the Netflix special.

Mercer recollected, "I said, 'My God, come on now. That's too soon.' I said, 'Things like that don't work out.' "

While Lamar claimed Morales didn't let their children attend the wedding, hisson LJ and daughter Destinyseemed to have opted out of their own volition.

"I just didn't wanna be a show pony or anything like that," Destiny said. "If you wanna get married in front of, like, a hundred people and all these cameras, that's totally cool, and it's on you."

LJ added, "I never even met her. I don't think he told me he was marrying her."

Mercer revealed that she and other members of Lamar's family weren't invited at all.

"He didn't invite none of us, you know. None of us," she reiterated, going on to suggest she didn't get an invitation because the athlete thought she might object during the wedding ceremony.

He added that the celebrity status on top of his fame as a professional athlete was an intoxicating lure, saying, "I think that was like a power trip for me, 'cause you took the power I had [as an NBA player], and then Kardashian power. When you add 'em…"

Khloé revealed her reality show with her ex-husband was not something she truly wanted to do — and Lamar confirmed that it was indeed his passion project.

"Khloé & Lamarwas very much led by Lamar," the Good American co-founder said. "I was spread really thin. I also didn't really want it to jeopardize the family brand … I thought there was so many Kardashian shows."

"But I also wanted to do what made him happy, and he was so excited about it," she explained.

"Someone was a genius," Lamar said. "Reality TV, whoever brought that up… Trickery. Foolery."

Even Lamar's daughter said he'd long had aspirations for breaking into the larger celebrity bubble. "He did love Khloé, but he'd wanted to be on reality TV for a long time," Destiny shared.

Khloé said she tried to hide his drug addiction from the public

The higher Lamar rose as an A-lister alongside Khloé, the more he was partying — eventuallybecoming addicted to cocaine. His addiction went as far as freebasing the drug, altering it into crack for a stronger high.

In the documentary, Khloe spoke about Lamar's addiction struggles and her attempts to keep it a secret from the public.

"I was either looking for him in alleys, looking for him in motels," Khloé recalled. "He would have tinfoil cutouts or spoons, and freebasing things, and leaving things everywhere. I remember needing to go to hotel rooms to clean up after him, so the housekeeping didn't sell a story."

The Kardashiansstar continued, "I was such an enabler without knowing I was an enabler. But I just felt such a responsibility to cover this up, hold it together and protect him."

Khloé revealed there was some manipulation on Lamar's end as well, which she was too young and in love to see.

"When I really discovered that there was a problem, he was like, 'You cannot tell anyone. I'll lose it all. If I lose it, where are we gonna live? What are we gonna do?' And at the time, I was 24," she said.

"I'm still trying to figure out my life. I had the show, but we weren't, like, making money like that," Khloé said. "I remember just keeping all these secrets and feeling horrible about myself."

She continued, "He overdosed a few times, I had to pump his stomach … We had at-home detox centers. We did everything we could."

Lamar chose to divorce Khloé

Before his infamous overdose, Khloé gave Lamar an ultimatumduring an intervention: drugs or their marriage.

The NBA star chose his addiction.

"I was advised to do this intervention, and the interventionist said, 'You're gonna go in there and tell him, 'You need to go to rehab, and if you don't stay for a three-month program,' you're gonna say you're getting a divorce,' " Khloé recalled.

"Everyone around me was like, 'He'll never say he wants the divorce.' We do the intervention. I give my speech. And he was like, 'Okay, all I want is my passport, and yeah, let's get the f---ing divorce,' " she revealed.

"I was like, looking around like, 'Wait. Wait. I … I don't want the divorce. You guys told me I have to say this,' " she said of family and professionals who recommended the intervention. "Lamar left immediately, was like, 'We're getting the f---ing divorce, and I'm never coming back here again.' "

Lamar's father tried to have him taken off life support

Though both Khloé and Lamar signed a petition for divorce and Khloé filed it with the Los Angeles court, shestill raced to his sideonce news of his overdose hospitalization hit the news.

She nearly didn't make it in time to save his life — Lamar's father, an addict himself, tried to have him taken off life support.

"We get to the hospital. His dad was there. I assume, [he] thought, he's now the beneficiary to Lamar," Khloé recalled. "And Joe just said, 'Don't put him on life support. Turn those machines off.' And I remember walking in around that time, and I kid you not, it was a scene out of a movie."

"I'm like, 'Sorry, Joe, I'm still his wife. What do you need?' And Joe wanted a pair of Nikes and $100, and a hotel room for the night. And Joe left, and never came back," Khloé said.

Khloé, whose divorce from Lamar hadn't been finalized due to a backlog in the courts, explained that she wanted to help him recover because she had made a vow to him, and she felt she was the only person who was looking out for his best interests.

"This is my husband. Through sickness and health, I have to be there for him," Khloé said. "I have to show up for him. And I was gonna do everything I could to make sure that he had the best fighting chance. I just trusted myself more than I trusted anyone in his circle."

Lamar's kids said their goodbyes while he was in a coma

While Lamar was in a coma, his kids came to see him to say what they thought were their goodbyes.

"When we went into the hospital room, it was hard seeing him all tubed up and everything," Destiny said in the episode. "He was so swollen. I remember how swollen he was."

She added that she grabbed his hand and told him "everything" she was feeling.

"I was like, 'You can't leave. Like we still have memories to make,' " Destiny said.

LJ added that the doctors told him he could still hear them in a coma, so he played one of his dad's clips of the crowd going crazy for a move he made on the court on repeat.

He relapsed shortly after being released from the hospital

Khloé stayed at the hospital with Lamar for nearly four months — during which he suffered from 12 strokes, six heart attacks, a three-day coma and months of rehabilitation to reteach the former professional athlete how to walk, talk and use the restroom on his own.

"I never left the hospital," she said. "I was there for about four months with him, every single day. We were like, determined to get him walking and moving again. … He did learn how to walk again at Cedars [Sinai Hospital]. And that was really special."

When Lamar was discharged all those months later, he still had very limited speech capabilities and depended on others for help with basic tasks like showering.

To ease the transition between the hospital and everyday life, Khloé rented a house for Lamar and hired a caregiver and chef. While popping in to check on him one day, Khloé caught Lamar relapsing.

"Once you know the smell of crack, it's the most identifiable, disgusting smell," she said. "And there's nothing you can confuse it with. And I remember stopping by the house, and I smelled crack. … He was in his bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed, smoking crack. And I justpunched him in his face," Khloé recalled.

She explained how angry and betrayed she felt, recalling telling Lamar, "'I just put my life on hold to f---ing take care of you. How did you get this? You don't have a f---ing phone. You can't talk.' "

"Well, lo and behold, he had a phone," Khloé continued. "He was better than I knew. He was playing me so I can continue this lifestyle for him. I said, 'By Monday, you need out of this house. I'm done. I'm not paying for a thing, and I never want to speak to you again.' "

Though she withdrew the petition she filed in 2015 before Lamar's overdose, she filed for divorce again. Their divorcewas finalizedin December 2016.
