Joe Lacob's ownership group oversaw the rise of the Golden State Warriors into becoming the most valuable NBA franchise, valued at $14.5 billion as of October 2026.
As Lacob entered the WNBA with the Valkyries in 2025, the ownership group has set a new standard for what new women's sports teams can achieve, already considered the most valuable women's sports team in the world. Now, they're proving that with their earnings.
An ABC news report has revealed that the Valkyries have become the first-ever team in women's sports history to generate over $100 million in revenue over a season.
"The Golden State Valkyries have become the first professional women's sports team to generate $100 million in annual revenue, adding another milestone to a season that has drawn sold-out crowds and helped make the franchise the most valuable team in not just the WNBA, but across all of women's sports."
This does not even factor in the mega-earnings they can have with home Finals games, with the Valkyries confirmed to host Games 1 and 2 at their Chase Centre arena, with Game 5 and 7 also providing boosted earnings if the series goes that far.
The Valkyries will face the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Finals, with the Dream having one of the WNBA's most popular players in Angel Reese on their roster.
The franchise's ownership model has been hailed since they made their debut in 2025, with many expecting a potential billion-dollar valuation in the next year for the Valkyries, who are currently valued at $850 million. Winning the Finals will definitely put them on that path.
With consistently sold-out home games in the revenue-generating machine that is their home arena at the Chase Centre, the Valkyries have among the brightest futures of all WNBA teams, regardless of the Finals result.
