Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Upstaged During Bondi Beach Visit After “Unbothered Queen” Brutally Ignores Them

Meghan MarkleandPrince Harry’s visit toBondi Beachtook an unexpectedlyawkwardturn after a viral moment showed the royal duo being completely ignored by a female beachgoer, now dubbed the internet’s “unbothered queen.”

In clips capturing the moment, the womandidn’t so much as glance upas the Duke and Duchess passed right by, surrounded by cameras, lifeguards, and curious onlookers.

“Meghan Harry Bondi paradeupstaged by a cool indifference lady, love her vibe. Probably reading Betrayal,” wrote one netizen.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in Australia from April 14 to 18 on a privately funded tour, marking their return more than seven years after their 2018 royal visit.

Their trip, focused on mental health, community resilience, and support for veterans, saw the couple participate in several charitable events and commercial engagements across three major cities: Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney.

During the final leg of their visit, on Friday, April 17, the couple traveled to Bondi Beach in Sydney to show support for the community following a tragic attack that occurred there on December 14 last year during a Hanukkah celebration.

Two armed men opened fire on hundreds of families gathered for the celebration, reportedly leaving 15 deceased and 42 others severely injured and hospitalized.

Markle and Harrymet privatelywith several survivors, who shared their harrowing experiences.

They also visited the Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club to thank volunteer lifeguards and emergency workers who played a crucial role in protecting the public during the tragedy.

After viewing artifacts and tributes related to the incident alongside representatives from the Sydney Jewish Museum, the couple stepped onto the beach.

They were accompanied by photographers, beachgoers, and others gathered to observe a patient pickup demonstration using an inflatable rescue boat (IRB) conducted by lifesavers.

While walking along the shore, the pair encountered a woman sunbathing on her towel and reading a book in anow-viral clipfirst obtained by theDaily Mail.

Unlike the surrounding crowds attempting to interact with the couple, she did not look up or move aside, prompting Harry, Meghan, and their team to adjust their path around her.

Prince Harry reportedly noticed the moment and was seen laughing, even pointing her out to others to ensure they didn’t accidentally step on her.

The clip of the unfazed beachgoer has since gained traction online as a humorous example of “peak Bondi attitude.”

One Reddit user summed it up, writing, “Bondi Beach goer give zero f**ks, refuses to move for crowds attending and filming Harry and Meghan, keeps reading her book.”

Another person commented, “This is peak Bondi attitude from everyone.”

“How rude of them toinvade her personal spaceon the beach! But considering the source, I’m not surprised,” remarked a third.

One user fumed online, “That was very rude of both Harry and Meghan… The arrogance to think you own the beach”

The woman, who remains unidentified, has not publicly stated why she chose not to move.

Many observers defended her, noting that the beach is a public space and that she was there first. Some even criticized Meghan and Harry, suggesting the walk appearedpoorly plannedin a crowded setting.

One critic argued, “Why should she move and organize her day about what Harry and Meghan are doing? The beach is public, she can lay around wherever she wants.”

“Whoever planned this event is the one who should’ve been more aware than just having a group of people walk around on a beach and literally walking over other people with no warning. That woman was engrossed in her book, you can see her literally lift her head up from reading.”

Others expressed, “I would be pi**ed if I was enjoying my vacation and suddenly got almost stepped on by a crowd of people filming others whose entire life is vacation. Come on,have some respect.”

“They had to walk around the sunbathers who ignored them, and nobody turned up to see them at their opera house walkabout.”

The comment referenced Markle and Harry’s visit to the Sydney Opera House later that same afternoon, where the turnout appeared noticeably small.

Some even alleged that those present were merely “a tour group heading for a tour of the opera house.”

“Looks like ordinary tourists milling around. That’s probably why they went there. They thought they couldclaim the crowd. Lol,” one user said.

Moreover, according to sources, one of Australia’s most popular families, the Irwins, reportedly kept their distance from the pair, allegedly due to their strong loyalty to the British royal family.

According to a source who spoke toNew Idea, “They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm [Royal Family].”

The source also alleged that arranging a meeting between the Irwins and Markle and Harry “just wasn’t possible.”

“Why are these former royals being so disrespectful as to walk over and through beach goers who were already there,” one critic wrote

How Scott Patterson's character Sully exits “Sullivan's Crossing” in season 4

Warning: This article contains spoilers forSullivan's Crossingseason 4,episode 1.

Entertainment Weekly Scott Patterson as Sully on 'Sullivan's Crossing'Credit: Jessie Redmond/Fremantle

Key Points

  • Scott Patterson's departure from Sullivan's Crossing was announced in March.

  • In the season 4 premiere, it's revealed how his character, Sully, is written out of the show.

  • Patterson previously made a statement on his exit, saying that "creative differences were becoming untenable."

Sully is simply Out of Office (at least, that’s what theSullivan’s Crossingwriters want you to think).

Following the announcement ofScott Patterson’s departurefrom the show in March, we’ve been waiting to see how the writers might handle his absence — especially given the actor’sstatementhinting that things didn’t go according to plan.

The most we get in the season 4 premiere is a brief explanation from Sully’s daughter Maggie (Morgan Kohan) during a conversation with Cal (Chad Michael Murray). “Sully just left. We can’t let things slide around here,” Maggie tells Cal.

She adds, “Sorry, I think I’m just feeling overwhelmed with him leaving like that. It just…it all took me by surprise.” It’s a line that almost feels like a wink to the audience, in the context of Patterson’s seemingly tense departure.

Beyond this conversation, there is no definitive write-off for Sully just yet. It looks like Sully is still out enjoying Ireland, but there are no hints at his return date. Cal and Maggie are left running the Crossing in the interim, navigating complicated guests and Maggie’s surprise ex-husband.

While the characters try to resume business as usual, Patterson's absence is palpable. We are left waiting for his face to appear in the season 4 opening credits. We miss out on the motivational heart-to-heart conversations between Sully and Cal. We don't get the healing, reconciliatory moments with Maggie or the quippy banter with the Cranebears.

Patterson's departure doesn't keep the writers from referencing Sully in character dialogue, but they don't commit to a proper goodbye either. So far, they have left the possibility of Sully’s reappearance in the show open-ended. It begs the question: Will they recast him?

As we saw in theseason 3 finale, Patterson’s character made the impromptu decision to join his romance novelist girlfriend Helen (Kate Vernon) on a trip to Ireland. Sully explained to Maggie, “It’s time for me to finally let myself go in a new direction.”

Although Sully promised that going to Ireland with Helen wasn’t going to change how much he loves the Crossing, it seems creative differences did change Patterson’s sentiment on returning to the show.

Ahead of season 4, showrunner and executive producer Roma Roth confirmed Patterson’s exit to EW.

“Season 3 ofSullivan's Crossingended with Sully leaving for Ireland, beginning a new chapter in his life. Season 4 picks up the next day, with Sully still overseas. While he isn’t physically present in this season, the character remains an important part of the world with the potential to be included in future seasons should that align with the ongoing creative,” Roth said.

Patterson replied with his version of the departure. “The creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue,” he said in a statement on Instagram. "It’s unfortunate that it is now being implied that they moved on from me/Sully when the fact is the complete opposite, and those who sadly already have spoken out are also fully aware of this fact, and yet chose to say otherwise.”

TheGilmore Girlsalum concluded, "The fans deserved better than to think the embodiment of this character, me, would just disrespect not only the show, but them. In the end, we’re all fans of these characters and stories, and I’ll always support and defend the truth.”

Sullivan’s Crossingseason 4 airs new episodes Mondays on The CW.

The Strokes condemns U.S. foreign intervention on Coachella stage

The Strokes wrapped up their Coachella set Saturday night by using the festival’s massive onstage LED screens to display a political protest against foreign interventions by the U.S.

NBC Universal Julian Casablancas sings on stage in front of a guitarist (Kevin Mazur / Getty Images for Coachella)

During the second weekend of the annual Southern California festival, the group made its stance unmistakable as it ended on a performance of the 2016 song “Oblivius” — accompanied by a montage showing confirmed and suspected instances of CIA involvement in overthrowing foreign governments.

Bright mosque imagery on the screens gave way to a portrait of Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, whose removal from power in 1953 has since been confirmed by declassified U.S. documents as a CIA-orchestrated coup carried out in coordination with Britain.

The images continued as lead singer Julian Casablancas sang the lyrics “What side you standing on?”

Clips of the performance spread rapidly online, withone clipsurpassing 3.7 million views on X overnight. Coachella organizers have not issued a public statement on the set and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The American band went on to spotlight CIA and Belgian plots against Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected prime minister of the Congo, as well as CIA-engineered overthrows of Bolivian President Juan José Torres and Guatemalan President Jacobo Árbenz.

The montage also pointed to alleged CIA involvement in the overthrow of Chilean President Salvador Allende and the plane-crash deaths of Panamanian military leader Omar Torrijos and Ecuadorian President Jaime Roldós Aguilera (spelled on screen as “Jaime Rondos”).

It further highlighted suspected government involvement in Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, with an on-screen title accusing the U.S. government of being “found guilty of his murder in civil trial.”

The Department of Justice, following its own investigation, concluded that the evidence did not support the jury’s 1999 civil verdict that “others, including government agencies,” participated in a conspiracy to assassinate King.

The Strokes’ visual protest closed on footage stating that more than 30 universities in Iran have been struck since U.S.-Israeli airstrikes began earlier this year — a figure reported by Iran’s Ministry of Science and Technology — followed by a clip of Al-Israa University, the last standing university in the Gaza Strip beforeIsraeli forces demolished it in 2024.

The band is the latest act to denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza on a global stage, as a growing number of artists have publicly voiced concern for Palestinians in recent years. During the first weekend of this year’s Coachella, singer Gigi Perezcalled for a “free Palestine”while simultaneously condemning U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. At last year’s Coachella, Irish hip-hop groupKneecap performedin front of a screen with the words “F--- Israel, Free Palestine.”

Similar political commentary reached the stage at last year’s Glastonbury Festival, where Kneecap and English punk duo Bob Vylan came under fire forleading the audience in chantssupporting Palestinians and condemning Israel.

During Saturday’s set, the Strokes continued to be outspoken. In one moment that has nowbecome a viral clip online, singer Casablancas told the crowd he had been “tempted to come out tonight with a laptop and show you guys some of those Iran Lego videos” — a reference to AI-generated clips produced by Iranian groupsusing Lego-style figuresto criticize the United States and share pro-Iran messaging.

“More facts than your local news. But they were taken down,” he said, blaming “YouTube or government or whatever.”

YouTube confirmed to NBC News that it removed Explosive Media — the Iran-based channel responsible for most of the videos — from the platform last month for “violating our spam, deceptive practices and scams policies.” The group’s Instagram account also appeared to have beentemporarily taken downin March, although it’s back online now.

“Land of the free, am I right?” Casablancas said.

Life jacket worn by Titanic passenger who survived auctioned for $900,000

A life jacket worn by a passenger on RMS Titanic as she escaped the sinking steamship on a lifeboat sold at auction on Saturday for $906,000.

CBS News

The flotation device was worn by Laura Mabel Francatelli, a first-class passenger on the doomed ocean liner, and is signed by her and other survivors from the same lifeboat.

It was the star among items in a sale of Titanic memorabilia by Henry Aldridge & Son auctioneers in Devizes, western England, and sold to an unidentified telephone bidder for well over thepresale estimateof between 250,000 and 350,000 pounds.

The cream-colored life jacket, made of canvas with cork-filled sections, has been displayed at museums in both the United States and Europe.

"There are only a handful of life jackets worn by survivors which still exist today," auctioneer Andrew Aldridge told Cover Media, adding that most are held in museums and are unlikely to be sold.

A seat cushion from one of the Titanic lifeboats sold at the same auction for $527,000 to the owners of two Titanic museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Branson, Missouri.

The prices include an auction-house fee known as the buyer's premium.

"These record-breaking prices illustrate the continuing interest in the Titanic story, and the respect for the passengers and crew whose stories are immortalized by these items of memorabilia," auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said.

Billed as the world's most luxurious ocean liner and described as "practically unsinkable," the Titanic hit an iceberg off Newfoundland during its maiden voyage from England to New York. It sank within hours on April 15, 1912. Some 1,500 of the 2,200 passengers and crew died.

The Titanic is still a subject of worldwide fascination, in part because of the range of passengers aboard the ship, from paupers to plutocrats.

Francatelli was traveling with her employer, fashion designer Lucy Duff Gordon, and Lucy's husband Cosmo Duff Gordon. All three survived in the ship's lifeboat No. 1, which was launched carrying 12 people despite having a capacity for 40. Its failure to pick up survivors from the frigid water became a source of controversy.

The survivors were eventually picked up by the RMS Carpathia.

In 2025, acollector paid a record priceof over $2 million for a gold pocket watch linked to the Titanic. The 18-carat gold watch was gifted to its original owner, Isidor Straus, by his wife, Ida Straus, for his 43rd birthday. Straus, an American businessman and owner of Macy's, and his wife were first-class passengers on the Titanic.

The couple was known for their final act of selflessness aboard the sinking ship. The Strauses were offered two seats on a lifeboat once the ship had struck an iceberg, according to the U.K. government'sNational Archives, but they gave up their spots for younger people.
